About
Ali is a Co-Founder and Director of Hyrd Architects Ltd, based in Kendal, Cumbria. Established in 2021. She recently relocated to Cumbria in the Northwest of England, where she grew up.
The practice undertakes work for private clients, including refurbishments, extensions, and new build houses.
Ali continues working part-time as an Architect at Allies and Morrison in London, where she has been for 5 years, working in Urban Planning and drafting Design Guidelines, mostly for international projects.
Prior to this, Ali worked on projects independently, for private clients in the Lakes and Edinburgh. Her Part II experience was in Harrogate in North Yorkshire with Shaw and Jagger Architects for three years. Where she designed and oversaw the construction of Lingholm Kitchen, on the Lingholm Estate which sits on the western shore of lake Derwentwater in the Lake District.
She studied at both Edinburgh College of Art and ESALA in Edinburgh, and undertook her Part 3 at the Architectural Association in London.
In April 2021 she set up a Youtube channel, which you can get to via the ‘Videos’ link above. The idea is to provide those studying architecture with a transparent approach to the process, particularly what Part 3 involves. Architecture is a massively varied career and Ali is passionate about encouraging others, particularly those from more diverse backgrounds, to pursue a career within this industry, as well as educating the public on its value.
