This project involved the refurbishment of a Grade A listed flat in Edinburgh. I worked on this project from late 2014 to early 2017 with a private client. At first we simply discussed the feasibility of refurbishing the apartment, which was in need of some updating and conservation. Throughout the design process I collaborated with my client carefully. This was a new experience for them and understanding their brief, style, and expectations took time.
I submitted and managed the Building Warrant application for the project, and designed all the interior finishes and colours, with the clients direct involvement. I designed the shower rooms, the bespoke carpenter made Oak kitchen and the oversized headboard. I built the kitchens feature herringbone wall, using reclaimed school flooring, as well as retro-fitting beading to the existing doors to achieve the clients desired aesthetic.
In the final month of construction, I managed the refurbishment until completion. Throughout the process my client gained an understanding of their property and invested in its original features, creating a home that they are proud of. I am delighted with the finished product, and very grateful for my clients tremendous trust and support throughout the process, when they themselves could not always visualise the design I was creating.
